In the month of August we will hear readings from chapter six in the Gospel of John from what is known as the “bread of life discourse.” All month we will hear Jesus describe himself using this metaphor of bread, which points us both to Holy Communion and to the larger teaching of Jesus as the source of life.
This will take us to the halfway point in the longest liturgical season of the church year - a season known as, “Time after Pentecost” and often referred to as “the green season.” This season maintains a focus on the life and ministry of Jesus as well as God’s on-going work in the world.
