I typically  write my blog and then chose my picture that best depicts the story.   Not this time.  The picture chose me before I had a chance to write.  Examine the picture and observe the body language.  The angel is  surrounded by the beauty of the lights and vibrant colors in a setting that seems joyous and care-free, yet, she  is sitting down with her hands holding her head.  Is she exhausted, fatigued, or needing a break?

My first reaction is that the angel was frustrated of working long hours and burning the candle at both ends.  Then again, maybe the angel wasn’t frustrated after all.  Perhaps she was taking a breather to rejuvenate! What a concept!  I bet she even thought to herself that “Jesus is the reason for the season.”  (Angels tend to have positive thoughts and mojo!)  Whatever the reason, the angel in the picture needed a break and gave herself permission to do so.  She just needed to sit down for a sec!

As you navigate the Advent season, consider how YOU will rejuvenate from long hours of work, extra-curricular activities, taking care of loved ones, and mitigating the stresses of the world. Give yourself permission to take a break and sit down just like the angel in the picture. You might just start a trend. When you are rejuvenated, then you can spread the joy just like the angels!

Because it seems truly appropriate, I leave you with a highly popular Christmas tune amongst the angels:  “Angels We Have Heard on High.”  Perhaps, it will put a smile on your face and rejuvenate you.  Sing loud!

“Angels We Have Heard on High”
Angels we have heard on high sweetly singing o’er the plains
And the mountains in reply echoing their joyous strains
Gloria, in excelsis Deo
Gloria, in excelsis Deo

Merry Christmas!
