Holy Cross Lutheran Church will meet Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 10:45 am in the Fellowship Hall for our Annual Congregational Meeting. The agenda for this meeting includes:
● Elect people to serve in leadership positions in our congregation.
○ four Congregation Council members
○ two Endowment Board members
○ two Memorial Gifts Board members
○ two Voting Members to the 2022 Nebraska Synod Assembly.
● Approve the 2022 Budget
● Receive congregational, staff and committee reports
Special Sunday School/ Childcare will be provided during the meeting.
Due to the difficulty of online voting, the Annual Meeting will be in-person only. Besides requiring masks, we will provide added protection by holding the meeting in the Sanctuary. People who want more social distancing can participate in the meeting from the Narthex, the Fellowship Hall, or other secluded rooms. Please contact a staff member if you would like to be assigned a separate room.
If you lead a committee or organization, please get your report for the Annual Report to the church office, preferably by email (email@example.com), by January 10. The packet of reports will be email out and available to be picked up by Sunday, January 23.
Let me remind you of a few procedural items in regards to the meeting. First, as we conduct elections there is the opportunity to nominate individuals from the floor. In order to be nominated from the floor, the person being nominated must either be present to accept the nomination, or have informed the president of the council, Jerry Wajda, prior to the meeting, of their willingness to serve if elected. Second, our constitution does not allow for line item vetos or line item adjustments to the proposed budget. The budget is either approved or rejected as presented. If it is rejected, the council will propose a new budget and call a special congregational meeting to vote on the new budget. This is why it is important to attend the Budget Forum on Sunday, January 16, at 10:45 am. Based on feedback from these forum, the Council will finalize the proposed budget at its January 18 council meeting.
As always, God continues to be faithful in leading our congregation in ministry and mission. God has not only called and gifted us as individuals, but also as a community. Please make every effort to join your fellow members of Holy Cross for this important Annual meeting. The more of us who participate in this process, the better it will be!
