February is always an exciting month! We celebrate Holy Cross Lutheran Church as being a Reconciling Congregation and host the River City Mixed Chorus during our 9:30 a.m. Sunday service. This year, our celebration is February 4. It is always a fantastic time, and the RCMC is such a treat for us! Make sure to join us afterward for a potluck. Bring your favorite dish plus extra for our guests.
The season of Epiphany draws to a close as we observe Ash Wednesday on February 14. At the 6:30 p.m. service, we will sing, meditate, and receive the sign of the cross on our foreheads: ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The Chancel Choir provides special music for the evening.
Lent: take the journey. Sundays during lent bring us a “a little bit of Easter” each week. (When Pastor Heather first came to HCLC, one of her Sunday sermons during Lent mentioned that Sundays were a joyous day and not included in the 40 days of Lent. I’ve always remembered that!) Our Chancel & Middle School/High School Ensemble, Carolon Choir, Sunday School Kids, Uke Choir, and Radical Ringers help us celebrate the Sundays during Lent.
Are you looking for a Lenten practice? Holden Evening Prayer on Wednesday evenings during Lent is a time to take a breath and relax through meditation, prayer, and song. The Holden Evening Prayer happens Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., February 21 through March 20 and for all ages.
As always...
Musically yours,
