The kids are back in school and things are kicking into gear at Holy Cross!

Sunday School Kick off is September 7 and we will also be giving out Bibles during worship to our in-coming 6th graders!  While the kids are in Sunday school, adults are invited to a special kick-off coffee hour with yummy treats lovingly baked by Wendy Brenner.  Come sample delicious home made baked goods and spend some time catching up over coffee.

On September 10 all of the mid-week activities for children and youth start back up!  Confirmation classes, ukulele and bell choir rehearsal, midweek worship, and the high school youth group will all be returning to their weekly schedule.  Things will be hopping at Holy Cross on Wednesdays!  And if you are bringing kids that night, stop by and join our Garden and Gab group for some light gardening and fellowship time!

The following Sunday, September 14, is our annual block party!  Once again we are inviting the community to come enjoy some free food and fun activities.  This event is always a lot of fun and a wonderful way for HCLC to be a positive presence in our neighborhood.  Sign up HERE to help out OR just show up and enjoy the party!

On September 21 our adult forums begin, starting with a congregational book study on “How to End Christian Nationalism” by Amanda Tyler.  Christian Nationalism is a political ideology that uses Christian language and symbolism, but points not to Jesus Christ but instead to a specific nation as the object of ultimate allegiance.  Together we will discuss how this movement negatively impacts our world and our faith and what we can do to help.

I hope that everyone got some rest this summer, because everything is back in full swing!  I am excited to get back into our school-year activities and to spend more time together this month.  Also, keep your eyes out for more fun things coming up in October: pet blessing, concert on the lawn, congregational picnic and bonfire, and the college care package event.  I look forward to seeing you there!
