Annual Meeting

I don't have to tell you how strange and different things have been for the past several months. So I doubt it is any surprise that at this point we are assuming our Annual Congregational Meeting will be held over Zoom. Thankfully our constitution and bylaws allow for online meetings. The Council is still figuring out exactly how to do this, but I am confident that we can make it work. Here's the information for the meeting.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church will meet Sunday, January 31, 2021, at 10:45 a.m. on Zoom for our Annual Congregational Meeting. The agenda for this meeting includes:
   Elect people to serve in leadership positions in our congregation.
      four Congregation Council members
      two Endowment Board members
      two Memorial Gifts Board members
   Approve the 2021 Budget
   Receive congregational, staff and committee reports

If you lead a committee or organization, please get your report for the Annual Report to the church office, preferably by email (office@hclchurch.com), by January 10. The packet of reports will be emailed no later than Sunday, January 24.

Let me remind you of a few procedural items in regards to the meeting. First, as we conduct elections there is the opportunity to nominate individuals from the floor. In order to be nominated from the floor, the person being nominated must either be present to accept the nomination, or have informed the president of the council, Alicia Glesne, prior to the meeting, of their willingness to serve if elected. Second, our constitution does not allow for line item vetos or line item adjustments to the proposed budget. The budget is either approved or rejected as presented. If it is rejected, the council will propose a new budget and call a special congregational meeting to vote on the new budget. This is why it is important to attend the Budget Forum which take place on Zoom on Sunday, January 17, at 10:45 a.m. Based on feedback from these forum, the Council will finalize the proposed budget at its January 19 council meeting.
