June begins the time after Pentecost sometimes referred to as “Ordinary Time.” This is the longest season of the church year and lasts all the way until Advent! During the time after Pentecost, the color is green - with the exceptions of Reformation Sunday (red), All Saints Sunday, and Christ the King Sunday (both white). After spending the Easter season in the Gospels of John and Luke, we now return to the Gospel of Mark for the month of June and the beginning of July. We will spend these weeks focused on the life and ministry of Jesus as well as God’s on-going work in the world.
