Breathe With Me

Yesterday a teenager opened fire at an elementary school. Ten days ago a white supremacist opened fire at a grocery store. I'm tired. I'm frustrated. I'm sad. I'm out of hope. I know God is with us in the midst of the tiredness, the frustration, the sadness, the hopelessness - but it's so hard some days to feel God and see God. Today is one of those days. So I lean on those who have meaningful words to share, when I don't - and I breathe.

Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Relax, and find your breath. When you're ready, breathe with me:

Inhale: When the world gets heavy,

Exhale: God, come near.

Repeat that breath prayer as many times as you would like. End your meditation time with one long inhale and one extra long exhale. 

"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Junior High Road Trip 2022

We are so excited to be headed to Kansas City this month! Kelsey will send out a final detail email (including a packing list) early this month. Get ready to have WORLDS OF FUN, junior high students!!

Mid Week Coffee Break - Let's try this again!

When I first started up our Midweek Coffee Break, I was a loony tune and didn't even THINK that most high schools would still be in school. Duh! So let's try this again! Every Wednesday starting in June and throughout the summer, David Wellsandt & I will be hanging out at Scooter's Coffee on 156th & Maple from 2:00-4:00(ish) pm. Stop by for a cup of coffee or smoothie (on me!) and say hi! 

High School Summer Road Trip

Details for our 2022 High School Summer Road Trip to Oklahoma City, OK July 24-28, 2022 are coming together. We are working closely with All Saints Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City to do some meaningful service learning work. We are looking forward to spending some time together in fellowship and faith!
