Time to Breathe

Time to Breathe

Lent is a time for slowing down, for reflecting, and for rooting down into our faith in ways that strengthen and nourish.  Which is why the season of Lent is a wonderful time to try out new spiritual practices!

Palm Sunday Path

Palm Sunday Path

Sunday, March 29, 2026

Join us on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm on the lawn at First United Methodist Church for a peaceful, public witness of faith, courage, and love. We will gather for prayer and song, and then move together in a gentle procession, lifting up clergy voices and a love-centered, nonviolent presence in our community. Together we will proclaim a simple truth: there is enough for everyone, there is dignity for everyone, and there is room for everyone.

Day Without Shoes

Day Without Shoes

Sunday, March 1, 2026

Getting ready to clean some closets?  Are your shoe racks overflowing?  If so, it’s a perfect time to join the “Day Without Shoes” campaign.  During the month of March, we are gathering gently-used and new shoes.  All types and sizes are needed.  This collection is part of a larger community event, sponsored by Cornhusker Bank, to benefit the Stephen Center, other local shelters, and schools in our area.

Shoe insecurity is a very real issue from many people in our community and your donation matters!  To donate, simply place your shoes in the marked cart in the Narthex.

(If possible, please buckle or tie shoes together so pairs don’t get separated.)

Thank You

Thank You

Hi - My name is Jolene Evans.  You have known me as Joe Evans for many years.  Over the past few weeks you have probably noticed a change in my appearance.  This is who I am - Jolene!  Thank you to our Holy Cross family for accepting us.  Please also know that this started in our early teenage years.  But Jolene was pushed into a room in our head.  She would knock on the door occasionally but was ignored.  About a year ago, she started banging harder and harder.  Finally, we opened the door and have no regrets.  We welcome any questions or comments.  Thank you again for being open and accepting!  We are very grateful for our Holy Cross family.

Peace
Jolene
